Annual Outing 2011

21 members of CAHCS got on board their bus at Coppeen on Sunday 17th July at 12 noon.  First stop was Ballincollig, where we had a light snack.  Ballincollig was gearing itself up for the Muster Fleadh Ceoil.  We then proceeded to Cork Gaol, where we got a very interesting guided tour.  It was fascinating to read the names on the cell walls, many of them from not too far afield.  An audio visual presentation rounded off the experience.

Then our very efficient coach driver Gerard negotiated the city streets in ferrying us to the Cork Butter Exchange, beside Shandon.  This also proved interesting, and many of our members had first hand experience of many of the processes and equipment which were discussed and displayed.  Our tour guide ensured that the experience was a well informed and enjoyable one.  Unfortunately, time didn’t allow us to visit St Anne’s Church & Shandon Steeple as we had hoped, so we headed out of town to the Lee Valley Golf Club.  Here we had a wonderful evening meal, served by Lisa Sheehan and her staff.

The we headed back to An Caipín where most of the party stayed on for chat and a drink, a perfect end to a great day.
