Reverse genealogy – Ireland Reaching Out

At a time where our immigration is at an all time high, it’s encouraging to see initiatives like the “Ireland Reaching Out” or “Ireland XO” project proactively seeking the Irish Diaspora. This interesting concept of “Reverse Genealogy” involves actively seeking out the diaspora through local research and of course the use of the internet.

At present, Ireland Reaching Out is running as a national pilot project in South-East Galway – the potential for similar initiatives across Ireland would be an exciting development – particularly with the wealth of heritage and culture our great island has to offer.
