Thanks to Dunmanway Historical Society

On Wednesday 2nd May, CAHCS members & friends visited Dunmanway where they were treated to a guided walking tour of part of the town by members of Dunmanway Historical Society.  The particularly pleasant weather conditions helped to make this a very pleasant occasion indeed.  Tim O’Donovan began the evening at St Patrick’s Church & graveyard, speaking on the history of the church & some of the many interesting headstones etc.  Tim, with his colleagues Finn Mannix, Pat McCarthy, Christy O’Mahony & John O’Brien all contributed to make the walk through the town a most interesting & informative experience.  A visit to their Heritage Centre was particularly interesting.  To round off a great event, everybody was invited to Cox’s Hall, where teas & wonderful baking were served to the hungry walkers.  Songs & a recitation rounded off a perfect evening.

CAHCS wishes to sincerely thank the aforementioned members of Dunmanway Historical Society for giving of their time & expertise so generously.  Thanks also to the ladies who prepared & served the food.  And lastly, special thanks to Maisie Culbert for kindly arranging the visit, though she was unavoidably missing from the event.
