After nearly two years work, CAHCS are about to launch their journal, “Coppeen – A Glimpse Of The Past” Volume IV. This event takes place in ‘An Caipín’ Coppeen on Sunday, 29th October 2017. A cheese and wine reception begins at 2:30pm. The official launch takes place at 3:00pm, performed by special guest John Greene of C103FM. Refreshments will be served afterwards with copious amounts of caint and craic. EVERYBODY IS WELCOME TO JOIN US on this momentous occasion.
This event celebrates the culmination of a huge effort by more than 30 contributors who have worked over the past two years to research and write articles, source photographs etc. As in previous volumes, this recent publication is designed to recall the past, which has defined us and continues to inform us. In this publication, traditions, people and pastimes are remembered and characters and events long forgotten are brought back to life. In addition, the perspective of local people on society and culture as well as on major events at home and abroad are recalled as the breadth and width of the articles and contributions in this publication are digested. There is something for everyone in the 45 plus articles contained in this 300-page publication.
This, the fourth journal by CAHCS, and all previous volumes have been edited by society chairman Colum Cronin.
The journal will be for sale in Barretts Coppeen and in local shops.
