THE CORK REBEL WAY, Launch. Sunday 4th August, 5pm, at Kilmichael Ambush site

On behalf of a group of us (details below) we wish to cordially invite you to the formal launch of ‘The Cork Rebel Way’ This is a concept to encourage & guide visitors to West Cork who wish to see War of Independence & Civil War sites, along with the likes of the Battle of Kinsale, the French Landing in Bantry, The Famine, sinking of the Lusitania etc etc. We feel that, with imminent historic centenaries about to happen, relatively little is being done to highlight, celebrate & appreciate our wealth of history, so this is just the first step by us towards addressing this in West Cork.

The Cork Rebel Way is a new driving route highlighting important historic ambush sites and much more. We have printed 10,000 magazines (free) showing the map & a collection of newly written articles to inform, guide & engage the reader.

In May 2019 a large gathering representing historical societies, museums, the accommodation sector & the arts from all over West Cork pooled their resources & worked together to develop the concept & produce this magazine.

All West Cork councillors & TD’s are being invited to attend the launch event which is being held on Sunday 4th August at 5pm at Kilmichael Ambush site.

This is the first stage of development of the Cork Rebel Way. We plan to develop the concept further in the autumn, by using social media & technology such as a mobile app, podcasts etc.
