BOOK-LAUNCH: ‘The Cuckoo Sings In May’ SUNDAY 19th JAN, 3pm, AN CAIPÍN.

Author, singer/songwriter/poet, Seán Ó Muimhneacháin launches his latest book “The Cuckoo Sings In May” in An Caipín on Sunday 19th Jan, beginning at 3pm. Attending will be local Comhaltas members who will entertain, along with many other talented singers and performers.

“The Cuckoo Sings In May” is Seán’s third publication. This is a collection of original songs and recitations and it even includes a CD with many of the songs. This book consists of cleverly crafted songs, many in English, some in Irish and even some Macaronic compositions. Humour, tradition, many puns, even some serious songs all add up to a wonderfully unique collection, all beautifully presented within a hard-backed cover. Seán’s daughter Siobhán sings the songs on the CD in her beautiful seanós style.

Seán’s sister Kitty Moynihan/Murphy (RIP) was principal teacher in Coppeen NS, and married local man Denis Murphy. Kitty and Denis’ family are now an integral and major part of our local community, so it is with open arms we welcome Seán Ó Muimhneacháin to Coppeen on this special occasion. This promises to be a great evening of music, song, humour, and reminisces. You are all most welcome to come along and be part of it, maybe even join in the sing-song. REMEMBER the date: Sunday, 19th January, 3pm.
