Castletown Choir at Titanic Commemorations Blackrock Castle Observatory

10 years ago, the centenary of this event was commemorated in Cobh in a meaningful and poignant week-long series of events.

To mark this momentous occasion, Colum Cronin wrote & recorded a song entitled ‘Titanic Remembered’ On the recording, the male members of St Joseph’s Church Choir Castletownkinneigh accompanied Colum in the chorus.

The complete St Joseph’s Choir, combined with the Cobh Commodore Choir performed this song with Colum, on the promenade stage as part of the centenary programme.

On that same week, the choir had the honour of performing this song at the Lord Mayor’s Titanic Commemoration in Blackrock Castle, with many notable dignitaries enjoying the performance.

To quote from the song:

…‘Today we still mourn those who never came home,
And we bid them a final adieu.
Remember them when Cathedral Bells ring,
‘Ore Cobh’s famed harbour blue’
